RECOMMENDED MOTION: That the Board of Supervisors adopt Resolution No. 2014 -008,
summarily vacating a portion of Markham Street in the Mead Valley area.
BACKGROUND:
Summary
This vacation is required in conjunction with the development of the Discount Tire Warehouse (Plot
Plan 25252). Right -of -way for a cul -de -sac has been dedicated, creating an unneeded remnant of
Markham Street. The applicant has requested that this remnant portion of Markham be vacated.

SUMMARILY VACATING A PORTION OF MARKHAM STREET
IN THE MEAD VALLEY AREA

(1st Supervisorial District)
WHEREAS, the hereinafter - described portion of Markham Street is shown on
Parcel Map 25101, filed in Book, 180, Pages 60 through 68, inclusive, on file with the Recorder,
Riverside County, California; and
WHEREAS, the hereinafter - described portion of Markham Street was accepted for
purpose of vesting title in the County on behalf of the public for public road and utility
purposes, and was accepted into the County Maintained Road System per said parcel map;
WHEREAS, the hereinafter- described Markham Street Right of Way is no longer
necessary for public street or highway purposes; and
WHEREAS, applicable procedures pertaining to summary vacations were followed
pursuant to the County's adopted Resolutions for fixing procedures to vacate and accept county
highways and property offered for dedication; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, FOUND, DETERMINED, AND ORDERED by the Board of
Supervisors of the County of Riverside, State of California, in regular session assembled on
January 7 , 2014, at 9:00 a.m. in the meeting room of the Board of Supervisors,
located on the First Floor of the County Administrative Center, 4080 Lemon Street, Riverside,
CA, that, pursuant to Section 8334(a) of the Streets and Highways Code, the hereinafter -
described portion of Markham Street is excess and is no longer required for right -of -way
purposes and is hereby summarily vacated with reservations as noted herein:

EXCEPTING AND RESERVING from the summary vacation an easement for any
existing public utilities and public service facilities, together with the right to maintain, operate,
replace,'remove, or renew such facilities, pursuant to section 8340 of the Streets and Highways
Code.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, DETERMINED, AND ORDERED that the Clerk of the
Board is directed to cause a certified copy of this resolution to be recorded in the office of the
Recorder of the County of Riverside, California.

IN BOOK 180, PAGES 60 THROUGH 68, INCLUSIVE, OF PARCEL MAPS, RECORDS OF SAID COUNTY,
LOCATED IN SECTION 1, TOWNSHIP 4 SOUTH, RANGE 4 WEST, SAN BERNARDINO MERIDIAN,
