SUBJECT: Change the name of a portion of Tenaja Road to Cleveland Forest Road and all of
South Tenaja Road to Tenaja Road, in the Tenaja area, First Supervisorial District.
RECOMMENDED MOTION: That the Board of Supervisors adopt Resolution No. 2010 -216,
changing the name of a portion of Tenaja Road to Cleveland Forest Road, and all of South
Tenaja Road to Tenaja Road.
BACKGROUND: The legal name of these two portions of road has been brought into question
because of safety concerns related to the response times of emergency services.
A portion of Tenaja Road is locally known and signed as Cleveland Forest Road, from the
intersection of South Tenaja Road westerly to The Cleveland National Forest boundary. To
alleviate confusion and address safety concerns, the Riverside County Transportation
Department is proposing to change the name of this portion of Tenaja Road to Cleveland Forest
Road.
South Tenaja Road, is locally known and signed as Tenaja Road, from Tenaja Road southerly
to the Riverside County boundary line. To alleviate confusion and address safety concerns, the
Riverside County Transportation Department is proposing changing the name of this portion of
road to Tenaja Road.

The Tenaja Community Services District, the Cleveland National Forest district office, and all
adjacent property owners were notified of the proposed street name changes and were given
the opportunity to comment. Of the 31 notifications mailed, 4 responses were received in favor
of the name changes, 0 opposed, and 27 no response.

CHANGE THE NAME OF A PORTION OF TENAJA ROAD TO CLEVELAND
FOREST ROAD AND ALL OF SOUTH TENAJA ROAD TO TENAJA ROAD IN THE
TENAJA AREA OF RIVERSIDE COUNTY
(FIRST SUPERVISORIAL DISTRICT)
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 970.5 of the Streets and Highways Code, a
public hearing after due notice has been held upon a resolution of intention to change
the name of a portion of Tenaja Road, from the intersection of South Tenaja Road to
the Cleveland National Forest boundary, to Cleveland Forest Road and all of South
Tenaja Road, from Tenaja Road southerly to the Riverside County line, to Tenaja
Road, within Section 36, Township 7 South, Range 5 West and within Sections 1 and
12, Township 8 South, Range 5 West, as shown on attached Exhibit "A ", and all
persons having had an opportunity to be heard; now, therefore;
BE IT RESOLVED, DETERMINED AND ORDERED by the Board of
Supervisors of the County of Riverside, State of California, in regular session
assembled on September 28 , 2010, that the name of a portion of Tenaja
Road be changed to Cleveland Forest Road and all of South Tenaja Road be
changed to Tenaja Road.
