RECOMMENDED MOTION: That the Board adopt Resolution No. 2001 -164, Change the
Name of Avenida Juan Bautista to Avenue Juan Bautista in the Rubidoux area.
BACKGROUND: It was recently brought to the Transportation Department's attention
that both Avenue and Avenida have been approved by the County when referring to the
road Juan Bautista. The oldest and largest portion of this road (from Avenue De Palma
southerly to the terminus in a cul -de -sac) is named Avenue Juan Bautista. There are 78
homes with Avenue Juan Bautista addresses in this area. The continuation of this road
northerly from Avenue De Palma to 45 Street is currently named Avenida Juan
Bautista. The Transportation Department recommends approval of changing the street
name in this area from Avenida Juan Bautista to Avenue Juan Bautista, resulting in one
street name for the full length of the street. A uniform name along the entire length of
the road is necessary to avoid confusion, especially for emergency vehicles. There are
three homes in this area with Avenida Juan Bautista addresses that will be affected.

8 WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 970.5 of the Streets and Highways Code, a public
9 hearing after due notice has been held upon a resolution of intention to change the name of
10 Avenida Juan Bautista between Avenue De Palma and 45' Street as shown on the attached
11 Exhibit, in Sections 17 and 20, T. 2 S., R. 5 W., S.B.B. & M., Second Supervisorial District,
12 and all persons having had an opportunity to be heard; now, therefore,

14 BE IT RESOLVED DETERMINED AND ORDERED by the Board of Supervisors of
15 the County of Riverside, State of California, in regular session assembled on
16 July 10 , 2001, that the name of Avenida Juan Bautista be changed to
17 Avenue Juan Bautista.
