SUBJECT: Summarily vacating portions of Rancho California Road and Avenida Del Oro, in
the Santa Rosa Rancho area, First Supervisorial District.
RECOMMENDED MOTION:
That the Board adopt Resolution No. 2000 -65, summarily vacating portions of
Rancho California Road and Avenida Del Oro.
JUSTIFICATION:
The applicant is requesting the vacation of that portion of Rancho California Road
in order to remove excess right -of -way not required for any future widening along
with a portion of Avenida Del Oro which is not occupied by the current improved
roadway. The right -of -way in the originally mapped location per PM 19309 is not in
use and the terrain would make it difficult to move the road to the planned location.
In addition, a major Southern California Edison pole -top substation is located within
the Rancho California Road right -of -way, which would obstruct the mapped
alignment of Avenida Del Oro.
Rancho California Road is designated in the General Plan as a Mountain Arterial
(Road Standard 100C) and is constructed within the east half of the existing 250
foot wide right -of -way. If this vacation is approved, the road can be built to it's
General Plan width in the remaining 140 feet of right -of -way (widening is planned in
conjunction with CFD 88 -10). The vacation of that portion of Avenida Del Oro is
necessary in order to realign the street to correspond with the existing traveled
way. The dedication of the new alignment of Avenida Del Oro will be concurrent
with this vacation.

WHEREAS, the hereinafter described portions of Rancho California Road and Avenida
Del Oro as shown on Parcel Map 19309, recorded in Book 126, Pages 89 and 90, inclusive,
records of the County Recorder, Riverside County, California, were offered for dedication for
public road purposes; and,
WHEREAS, the hereinafter - described portions of Rancho California Road and Avenida
Del Oro are not necessary and are excess interest; now, therefore;
BE IT RESOLVED, DETERMINED AND ORDERED by the Board of Supervisors of
the County of Riverside, State of California, in regular session assembled on
November 14 , 2000, as follows:
1. Pursuant to Section 8334(a) of the Streets and Highways Code that the hereinafter
described portions of Rancho California Road and Avenida Del Oro are an excess interest
not required for highway purposes and are hereby summarily vacated:

8 2. That the herein - described portions of Rancho California Road and Avenida Del Oro
9 are unnecessary for present or prospective public use, including use as a non - motorized
10 transportation facility.

12 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the Clerk of this
13 Board shall cause a certified copy of this resolution to be recorded in the Office of the County
14 Recorder of the County of Riverside, California.
